Book 5 - The War Starts - Preview
Chapter 1
Denny
War and squad sign ups.
“We’re going to war?!” I exclaimed.
“Yes. I need to know if you want to be in a squad. I’m sorry people but we need to do this!” Ms. Sheila exclaimed. I nodded.
“Yes. I’ll be in a squad. I want to fight!" I said.
"Me too!" A chorus started. Soon I could barely think over the sounds of people volunteering. I pushed through the crowd. I saw Adam and TJ. A couple guards grabbed me and showed me the way to squad sign ups. I walked there and looked back. I saw everyone clearing a path for four people. Maxie arm-in-arm with Adam and Rose arm-in-arm with TJ walked through. I quickly scribbled my name on the sheet and then they let me walk back to my house, or the apartment I would be staying in few the next few days. I took my key and followed the directions they gave me. It wasn’t too far from the center. I just got to my apartment when I heard a voice.
"Hi I'm Jason. We must be roommates?" He said. I turned around and saw a tall guy, black hair. He looked like an actor that would pay the “hot guy” roles, so naturally I didn’t find him good-looking at all. I opened the door and walked inside. I walked into the living room and flopped down on the couch inside. It was a furnished apartment, good.
“What’s your name?” he asked. Only now did I realize his Australian accent.
“Denny. I’m a wizard. Are you from Australia?” I asked.
“Yep. From Airlie beach. Well more from the Whitsunday Islands. You have to go through Airlie beach to get a boat to the islands but we also have a house on the mainland.” He said.
“Airlie beach? Nevermind. Sounds cool.” I said.
“Yep. Which bedroom do you want? Left or right? Right has better views but left has better air conditioning.” He said. I looked at him. He held up a brochure to our apartment.
“Whichever is fine. How long did it take you to get here?” I asked.
“Well considering my speed, about 3 months. Maybe 4.” He said.
“How fast do you move?” I thought out loud.
“Oh! I forgot to tell you didn’t I? Silly me. I’m the last the last goblin on the Earth.”
I was still sitting there in shock. Looking at him, the last goblin on earth.
“Hello?” He said waving a hand in front of my face. I shook my head.
“You’re the last goblin on earth?!”
“Yeah. Didn’t I already say that?”
“Yes, well I just thought that they were all dead it must su-” I stopped myself. I realized what I was about to say. I did ‘Sorry I’m so stupid.’ smile.
“It’s okay dude. I know it does suck sometimes but I’m alright.” Jason said.
“I’ll take left room.” I said. He nodded.
“Denny?”
“Yes?”
“I hope we become good friends. So please tell me the truth . . . Do I stink?”
